Hold on to your hats (and hoods). It’s getting windy out there.
Winds from 30 to 45 mph were expected in the Seattle area from Saturday night into Sunday morning, said Kayla Mazurkiewicz, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Seattle. Rain was also expected for much of the weekend, with showers continuing into next week.
A wind advisory has been issued for Seattle and other interior areas from 6 p.m. Saturday to 4 a.m. Sunday — a “wet and breezy night,” Mazurkiewicz said.
A high wind warning has been issued along the coast for roughly the same time period, with high seas and gusts up to 60 mph.
Our calmer October weather means there are still lots of leaves on the trees, increasing the risk of leaves clogging storm drains and power outages, Mazurkiewicz said.
“Give yourself extra time traveling,” she added.
